Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards for 2010 Juniors in High School A great opportunity for high school juniors from these areas - Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Jose/Bay Area, Phoenix, Chicago, Miami, New York/Philadelphia/New Jersey, and Greater Washington D.C. 2010 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) is once again conducting a nation-wide search for the best and the brightest Hispanic/Latino leaders. This national leadership program serves as the feeder to all other HHF youth efforts and provides a vetted network of emerging Latino leaders who have excelled in the classroom and community in various categories including science, technology, engineering, math, business, journalism, education, and sports. 2010 Youth Awards Details One of HHF's signature programs, the Youth Awards which we created thirteen years ago, has been revamped and changes include: Applications and Search: 2010 Juniors in high school (not seniors) of Latino descent with a minimum 3.0 GPA can apply and the award ceremonies will take place in the Fall when they are seniors in order to facilitate new time-line. New Time-line: Application drive to begin - end of March. Collection of applications - June and July. Regional Ceremonies - September - December. National Ceremony - January 2011 Community Project and Educational Grants: Students can choose to use the grants for their college education or to fund a community service effort the student will plan, oversee and sustain in an effort to encourage social entrepreneurship, volunteerism and sharing knowledge to other young leaders through social networking. Recipients: Selected students will be categorized as regional Gold, Silver or Bronze medallion recipients. All regional HHYA category recipients will receive $1,000 educational grant each to use for their college education or to fund a community service effort. All Regional Gold medallion recipients will be entered into the National Youth Awards Competition. One National Youth Award Recipient will be selected from each category. National HHYA recipients will receive a laptop computer and paid trip to the National Youth Awards Ceremony (Location TBA). 2010 Regions: Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Jose/Bay Area, Phoenix, Chicago, Miami, New York/Philadelphia/New Jersey, and Greater Washington D.C. Youth Award Categories: Green Award for students interested in green fields, Technology & Innovations, Education, Math & Engineering, Sports, Journalism and Science.
